REPORTING (from a student)
If anything needs to be reported to a trusted adult, you have options:
It is always best to either contact your ensemble's director or Ryan Kilgroe, (the Director of Ambitious Performing Arts): ryan@ambitiouspa.org
If you would like to contact another staff member, contact them directly by their email listed in the band app, or send them a private message.
IF you're in a competitve ensemble that is part of RMPA and WGI, you can report through WGI if you feel that the AmbitiousPA leadership is unequipt to handle the report. Visit WGI.org for more info.
It is strongly encouraged that a parent, a second staff member, or another student is included on any direct communication you send to staff. Our staff are not allowed to contact you directly without another human included on the communication, so if no-one else is included on your original communication, then the staff member will include either your parent or a second staff member on their response, deciding based on their best judgement.
Note that our staff are treated as mandatory reporters, meaning that if they know of something that suggests a minor's health or wellbeing are at risk, then they are required to report what they know to both their supervisor and law enforcement when necessary.
If you need help for mental health or other topics not related to AmbitiousPA, speak with your school counselor for options.
Current Staff
FILE A REPORT (as a staff member)
To make a report, please follow these steps in order:
- If life is in immediate danger, call 911 (emergency services) and/or 988 (crisis helpline) immediately.
- In the event of child neglect, abuse, or sexual abuse, call 1-844-264-5437 (Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Reportint Hotline) as soon as possible, and no longer than 12-hours from when abuse is initially suspected.
- Report the incident to AmbitiousPA by completing this form within 24-hours of the incident or disclosure, or by contacting your supervisor/director or Ryan Kilgroe directly within those 24-hours.
- Follow up with the child if you feel comfortable doing so. You are not responsible for further investigation. Once all of the above steps are completed when necessary, you may receive follow-up communication for more information. You will be notified when your mandatory reporting obligations are fulfilled.

MANDATORY REPORTING

What are you required to report:**
All staff and volunteers are mandatory reports as per organization requirements, as well as under law when applicable. Education staff are required to complete SafeSport trainings for both Mandatory Reporting and SafeSport Core. Please check the band app for further details.
All staff and volunteers are required to report any supsected neglect, abuse, sexual misconduct, harassment, bullying, or event that impacts the safety or well-being of participants or staff to their immediate supervisor. Aditional reporting may be required per state law.
All coaches, education staff, or education volunteers are required by law to file a report of any suspected abuse or neglect (either non-sexual or sexual) to law-enforcement/child services under colorado law. When filing a report, provide your full name and job title within AmbitiousPA. This must be done within 12-hours of the first suspecting of abuse. The original coach/staff/volunteer must be the one to file the report. Simply notifying your supervisor does not fulfill your reporting obligation in situations where autorities must be also be reported to.
Non-staff or other commmunity members may also file a report if they elect to.
BandApp
All staff will be required to be on the staff BandApp group. All required trainings, scheduling updates, work assignments, and other work-communications will be primarily delivered through the BandApp.
